What your doctor will ask you16

Your doctor will start an appointment by asking you about your asthma history, especially if he or she hasn't seen you for a while.
  • Current symptoms
  • Pattern of symptoms (e.g. how many times over 24 hours, a week or a year?)
  • What triggers your asthma?
  • How do you currently manage your asthma (e.g. use an inhaler?)
  • Have you recently been to hospital because of your asthma?
  • Describe a typical asthma attack or exacerbation
  • Describe your home and work environment
  • Does asthma impact on your work and lifestyle? What does it prevent you from doing sometimes?
  • Is there anyone in your family that has any allergies?

  Aim to live symptom free
