Medication

There are four main groups of asthma medications:

 Relievers
Relieve asthma attacks by rapidly opening narrowed airways.

 Symptom controllers
Control asthma symptoms by helping to keep narrowed airways open for an extended period of time.

 Preventers
Prevent asthma attacks by treating the inflammation in the airways.

 Combination medication
Combine a preventer and symptom controller in one device.
